Too Faced ‘Choclate Bon Bons’ eyeshadow palette review

One of those makeup essentials for every girl has to be her eye shadow palette. Finding the perfect palette is such a task these days, knowing you have so many amazing brands to choose from makes the task even harder. When we got our hands on this baby, we were sold!!

The palette consists of heart-shaped 16 matte and shimmer shades in cool pop of colors, delicate pinks and luscious plums. The Chocolate Bar experience begins as soon as you open the palette and the smell of sweet chocolate envelops you. You almost want to eat them! The eye shadows are pigmented with pure, antioxidant-rich cocoa powder formula.

A fun story behind the launch of these chocolate based products by Too Faced was when the Co-Founder and Creative Director Jerrod Blandino was inspired to combine the power of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and makeup while having a chocolate facial and learning about the benefits of cocoa at a Hawaiian spa.

This has become our go to palette! There is a complete balance of both matte as well as metallic shades. We love how the palette is completely versatile and you don’t need to go for any other palette if you’ve got this. Another reason why I love this palette so much is because it is dominated by nude, natural chocolate shades of eye shadows, which are my favorite at the moment! I don’t prefer loud or pop of colors on my eyelids; they just tend to look too much for me. That being said, the colors also include a bit of mauvey dusty pinks as well as shades like black currant and earl grey which are great to play with and go well with the other warm shades.

Besides being one of the most adorable palettes ever we love how the palette favors shimmer colors over mattes. The palette includes a majority of 10 shimmer shades as opposed to just 6 matte shades and the shimmers in this palette are to die for! They practically have a metallic finish and some of the shimmer colors reflect beautifully under different lights. ‘Sprinkles’ is one of the prettiest sparkle shadows in the palette!! It is a pink shadow with subtle coral and gold reflects making it one of my favorite colors in the palette. Also, cafe au lat makes for the perfect lid color to make your eyes pop. Special mention to satin sheets, this color does make your lids pop as well but this is just as stunning when used as a highlight in the inner corner as well as your cheek bones. I’m obsessed with using this as a highlighter!! One of the other unique shades in the palette includes earl grey that is more on the darker side which shows up as teal when diffused.

All the swatches below are done on bare skin without primer application with just a swirl of a finger into each pan once, and then swiped twice for each color. As you can see, most of the colors have quiet a decent pigmentation without the use of a primer.

Overall this palette is a delightful mix of cool and warm tones with pops of colors being a fun addition to what would otherwise be just another neutral palette. We would highly recommend getting your hands on this palette, more so if you’re starting out as a beginner. You are absolutely going to fall in love with the formula and the ease with which the colors blend.

The palette is available for purchase at all Sephora outlets and retails at the price of 295 AED
