Sanjeev kapoor is a well-known name in the culinary world of indian cuisine. He is Chef extraordinaire, runs a successful TV Channel FoodFood, hosted Khana Khazana cookery show on television for more than 17 years, author of 150+ best selling cookbooks, restaurateur and winner of several culinary awards. When invited to taste their iftar menu this Ramadan, it was our privilege to devour his delicacies

The iftar menu consists of a four course set meal menu presenting Indian classics with an Arabic twist. We love the concept of a set meal menu in contrast to the Buffet iftar as it serves you gourmet level quality on your plate. We were welcomed with a traditional Indian favorite, Pani puris shots! We couldn’t stop munching on these, they were perfect start and reminded us of street chaat food in India.

For our starters we tried their beautiful starter platter with comprised of safforon scented prawns, olive and nuts stuffed chicken Roulade, Sumac spiked grilled fish and charcoal roast lamb chop. The plate was almost too pretty to demolish and tasted as beautiful as it looked. The starters were cooked to perfection and were full of authentic indian flavors.

For the Mains, we decided to order the Lalla mussa dal (commonly known as dal maakhani), chicken biryani, Dum Ka Murgh (commonly known as butter chicken) and Kabuli Channa Gosht (commonly known as mutton and channa curry). These dishes were accompanied with assorted breads like Khurmi naan, Ulta tawa parantha and steamed rice. Our favorites were definitely their Lalla Musa dal, a rich creamy mixture of black lentil tasted absolutely divine and its one of the best we have had so far in Dubai! We also thoroughly enjoyed the chicken biryani, which consisted of tender chicken pieces, and striking blend of Indian spices.

For our desserts, we were served with a selection of assorted Indian sweets like Mahalabia, Phirnee, Chenna Angoori, Malpua and Gajar Ka Halwa. The desserts were served in the most unique way on a beautiful dessert display oval set, which comprised of mini fry pans and saucers with the delicate desserts. Our favorites included the Phirnee which was on point and was just what we needed to end our meal on a sweet note.

To sum it up, we loved how the dishes were a modern simplified adaptations of traditional dishes that have been enjoyed in India for centuries. Coming from an Indian background ourselves we love how the dishes showcased authenticity of pure traditional flavors with a modern twist.
