You know it is a good tasting session when you are so excited to share your experience with everyone. We decided to try out the newest space that just opened its doors to JLT, Cocktail Kitchen.From the classy wooden décor to the the hues of cool greys and blues and oversized indoor plants, mirror a very welcoming, homely yet luxurious feel of the restaurant.As soon as you enter you get a glimpse of how their minimalistic logo was created and what Cocktail kitchen is all about in just a few words. We love this, so on point!
Whilst seated down we decide to try out their business lunch menu, which comprises of a starter, main course and a dessert. From the waiter we gained the menu changes everyday, which is amazing for the amount of variety one gets to explore.
We started off with their very famous mocktails. The menu seemed rather interesting and quirky, our drinks were under the “We are cordial people” section of the menu, interesting! We decided to go for ‘He’s a fun guy’ and ‘Pain in the grass’ former being a beautiful blend of Thorncroft Kombucha cordial, Paoletti Chinotto, dragon fruit, kiwi and yuzu and latter consisted of Thorncroft Wild Nettle cordial, Qucumber soda, fresh basil, cucumber and lime leaves. Both the drinks were enriched with beautiful flavors and were super refreshing. The cocktail drinking experience here is elevated to a truly exceptional level, with their endless options on the menu combining elite levels of ingredients, skill and creativity.
The drinks were accompanied with their famous ‘Nibble before you dribble’ starters. Our first starter was the very unique grissini served artistically on a half cut bottle along with olives. Grissini is a long thin italian- styled breadstick crisp all the way through and flavored with various herbs and seeds. Plus points on the creativity and presentation we must say. This was one of the best grissini we have tried, and they are hand breaded by the chefs in CK. Highly recommend trying these out.
We also tried the Padron peppers, pan- fried with a coarse seasoning of sea salt. Just perfect!
Our starters for the day were cream of mushroom soup and asparagus dill creme fraiche. The mushroom soup was thick, creamy and flavorsome accompanied with beautifully roasted strip of garlic bread and herbs. Great start to any meal!
The asparagus dill creme fraiche, was a delicious blend of fine ingredients and one we haven’t tried before, we were definitely looking forward to try this. We loved the bag full of flavors this soup was encompassed with, a fresh and a very healthy blend of ingredients perked up with the richness of dill.
For our mains we decided to try out a vegetarian as well as a non-vegetarian option. The meatless lasagna Quattro formaggi was beautifully stacked with fragrant herbs, three kinds of Italian cheeses, and a rich, hearty tomato-basil sauce. This one is a must-try for cheese lovers!
We also ordered the ‘fish in a bag’ and this has got to be one of the best seafood dishes we have ever tried! The Seabream is sealed in the delicate herb flavors using special parchment accompanied with veggies tossed in aromatic butter. The beauty of this dish is when torn apart all the rich aromatic flavors are still intact right there on your table. This dish is healthy and by keeping everything in a little bag, the flavors are kept minimal yet pleasantly intense.
Moving on to our favorite part of the meal. For desserts we tried out their fresh fruit platter served with orange sorbet and mint syrup. This was perfect refreshment with a punch of sour orange sorbet and wonderful mint freshness to end your meal on a light note.
We finally capped off the afternoon with an Espresso Affogato. This Italian delicacy did not disappoint one bit! The blend of hazelnut ice cream, crème caramel and crunchy biscotti drowned in hot espresso are perfect for when you need that perfect amount of caffeine boost.
Cocktail Kitchen truly lived up to all our expectations; the simplicity and unique flavors on the plate are surely going to make us come back for more. Its one of the places where your drinks and food have been prepared with utmost uniqueness and perfection. This is undoubtedly echoed in their menu and reflects the maker’s immense knowledge, expertise and unwavering passion to create the best.This ones truly a game changer in the Dubai dinning industry and going to stay.
